Bunnies In Search of Humans to Love
If you would like to adopt, be sure to read the adoption requirements and application section here.

People often adopt rabbits from other shelters instead of us, saying our rabbits are already being given very good care, and those in other shelters are in greater need. Please remember we do have some very needy rabbits, and every rabbit adopted from us enables us to take in the neediest rabbit from another shelter.

Freckles (aka Madeline)

Freckles, (first introduced to our membership as Madeline), is a bit of a miracle child. Well, better make that a lot, not a bit! She had a very loving family who obviously took great care of this sweet rabbit, which is probably why she has done so well against such great odds.

When Freckles started having a problem, her family rushed her to an emergency vet, where she was given eye drops - for an ABCESS! Back home they went, with the mom carefully doing everything she'd been told to do for her bunn, but Freckles just kept getting worse!

Finally the woman got in touch with us and brought Freckles in for help in THE nick of time! By this time the abscess had expanded so much it was interfering with Freckles' breathing. Our Nancy was able to support Freckles long enough to get her to one of our very best exotic veterinarians for a dramatic course of treatment, resulting in this bunny now having a good chance of recovery instead of dying, as those who'd seen her at first sadly expected!

Yes, she is still a sick little girl with a permanent wink now, (one eye had to be removed) and loving heart. She has a way to go to recover, but she is doing better than we could have hoped! We're all rooting for her to get well soon, so she can go home and live happily from now on.

NOTE: For those new to our site, Freckles' situation is the perfect example of why it is SO important for rabbits to be seen by veterinarians with the extra training in exotics vital to appropriately care for rabbits since their medical needs are vastly different from dogs or cats.

Chauncey Chauncey

Jaunty Chauncey must have a constitution of iron, based on what he's been through. He was found amongst a group of over 40 cats. All of them got evicted (we probably don't know the whole story), and the cats were in terrible shape. So all the animals were confiscated, with Chauncey coming to us.

With all the cats being so very ill, it is a wonder that the only thing wrong with Chauncey was a little eye infection. His medicine is clearing it right up and he'll be fine. And while the medicine does it's work, it also makes the fur around his eyes …uhmm… less than tidy-looking. But he is doing fine here, loving being around nice people and rabbits instead of sick and dying cats. He seems to think, "This is so much better, and you say I can have a home with other rabbits and people who know how to take care of me? Boy, I like the sound of that!"

Chauncey is a 6-3/4 lb Ruby Rabbit born in 2003. Isn't it time for you to bring such a precious jewel into your life?

Viola and Joey

Viola (born 7/07) and Joey (born 3/07) were at the Longmont Humane Society long enough that they were getting freaked out about being confined to their cage with all those other "weird" kind of animals around - some they could see, some they couldn’t - but they could sure HEAR them!

They desperately needed more space, more attention, and more "bunnyness" in their lives, so we brought them here. Why they were surrendered in the first place, we don’t know! They are a delightful, small pair (just 2-3/4 lbs and 3-1/2 lbs). This pair is the dream team of bunnies, meeting all the requirements of the most selective adopters, being small, friendly, inquisitive, and young. They know how special they are and they don't expect to be here very long at all!

Viola and Joey

Patty Patty

Patty, another of the youngsters brought to us from a family of bunnies born to a bunny at Table Mountain Animal Center, is a beautiful little lady. She and her sisters were happy to come to us for a couple of reasons. They needed more space than was available at TMAC, so being here is much nicer for them. And the really big reason the girls are so excited to be with us is they've heard from all the other bunnies how well treated they are here and how careful we are to find just the right home for each and every bunny.

Little Miss Patty was born the day before Halloween in 2007 and now weighs close to 4 -3/4 lbs. Just as wonderfully friendly, lively, and curious as her sisters, she still has the great ambition to be the first of the girls to make her impression on a handsome young boy bunn and those who love him. She is eager to move on with her life in the biggest and best way she can - into a forever home!

Christine

Looking for all the world like a wise old bunny-soul here, Christine is actually a very young bunny - one of the three pretty little ladies born to a bunny taken to Table Mountain Animal Center. When the new family grew too large for the available space, we brought them here to find their forever homes.

Just born 10/30/07, Christine weighs close to 4-3/4 lbs. She is just like her sisters in that she is every bit as friendly, lively, and curious as they. And like her sisters, she is determined she be the first and luckiest to find herself a home with people who will spoil her and love her and make sure she has all the bunny toys and a bunny boy to play with. "Can I be first? Pick me, you won't be sorry and neither will I!"

Christine

Sunshine Sunshine

Sunshine is one of a group of bunnies born to a rabbit taken to Table Mountain Animal Center. The family needed more space than was available there, so three of these pretty little ladies came to us to find their forever homes.

Born in October of 2007, Sunshine weighs about 4-3/4 lbs. Like her sisters, she is friendly, lively, and curious. She is also blessed with this wonderful rex coat which seems so much like velvet to the touch. "OH, don't forget to tell them that I'm the prettiest and the best! I want to find my home first." Seems sibling rivalry can even show up with bunnies…

Charlene

Charlene is a very pretty young lady, who by coming here, has a lot to lose and a lot to gain. You see, this youngster (born in 2006) is fairly overweight - hence she has a lot to lose. This happens here every so often, an overweight rabbit comes in, gets put on an appropriate amount of healthy food and soon loses the excess ounces. She heard her ideal weight will be around 4-1/2 lbs after she loses almost 12 ounces of baby fat.

But in Charlene's mind it is the weight she wants to gain which is of the utmost importance: Charlene wants to gain many, many pounds! She wants to gain a home! She doesn't care how many pounds that adds up to - "Bring it on," she says! "Not only can I handle it, I'll be happy to run around like crazy and practice binkys 'til all my baby fat has melted away and I'm a svelte, lovely, happy bunny with my very own family."

Charlene

Sugar Bunn and Bandero Sugar Bunn and Bandero

This Dutch (Sugar Bunn) and Dutch mix (Bandero) are a pair of rabbits that anyone would find greatly appealing. Both are friendly, curious, and completely, wholeheartedly cute. Both born in 2002, Sugar Bunn weighs less than four lbs with Bandero being just over 4-1/2 lbs.

They found themselves a great home when they were here before, but their family had no choice but to let them go when the daughter developed an allergy-related asthma.

We may have heard Sugar Bunn telling Bandero, "Well, since we had such good luck before, we're sure we'll soon find another home where we can enjoy all the benefits of a home and give all the joy loving rabbits can give to their lucky guardians."

Patches

Patches is a handful. She is a handful of love. She is a handful of cute. She is, most especially, a handful of personality! This little 3-1/2 lb, 2005 rabbit came into the shelter, saw the biggest, handsomest boy-bunn in the room and promptly got herself into his run to settle in with him as soon as our backs were turned. It was the "Odd Couple" in bunny-speak, with him being so big and her so small!

For several months, they got along well. But after awhile, Patches' high energy level and somewhat bossy personality got the best of big ol' Elijah's laid-back personality. He really began to lose patience with her and finally just begged us to let him have a divorce. That suits Patches just fine. "And who", she says "needs a big, lazy galoot of a bunn just layin' around the crate all day anyway? Me? No way! I'm a party girl - party, party, party, that's me! So get me outa here; take me to your house and let me have a boybunn I can really play with. I'm ready for some fun!"

Patches

Petey and Delilah Petey and Delilah

Petey and Delilah are a delightful pair who were unfortunately relinquished because of a divorce. Petey is the a 3 lb dwarf mix pictured in front. Delilah, in back is a 4 -1/4 lb Holland lop, These two have contrasting personalities. Petey is feisty; Deliiah is quiet and comes quickly for attention from people. They love each other dearly and both have lots to offer a family, too.

Both of these small rabbits were born in 2002. They have many, many years of joy ahead of them and for the very, very clever human who knows the insiders' secret of just how wonderful these little white lops are as "people", this pair would be a prize beyond compare to adopt!

Nadia

Nadia was a stray born in 2005. She was lucky enough to be found before the weather got too bad. She came to us, found a home and family who were kind enough to "fix her up" with a wonderfully loving and handsome young guy. For a little over a year, they lived happily together until the horrible day her husbunn got really sick, really fast, and died before anyone could do anything to even figure out what was wrong with him.

Think that's the sad part? Well, no - it's sad enough, but what makes it even sadder is that Nadia was relinquished to us again. It seems her human companion wasn't able to face grieving the lost boy bunn WITH Nadia, so now Nadia is here with us, totally confused about why she is all of a sudden without her beloved partner, and completely without the home and the humans she loved and trusted!

This rabbit is such a pretty girl and was obviously well-treated, as she is right up at the front of her crate hoping, hoping, hoping for time and affection for anyone who comes within whisper distance. For mercy's sake, surely she will be able to find a new home and bunny-human family quickly before despair overtakes her!

Nadia

Cecilia Cecilia

When we learned that there was a rabbit at the Weld County Humane Society who might have juvenile cataracts, indicating E. Cuniculi, and that she wouldn’t be treated at the shelter, we asked that she be given to us. One of our volunteers, looking into Cecilia's eyes to see the cataracts said "it looks like she has a flower in there!"

Cecilia is a beautiful, glossy black bunny with a few touches of white, weighing only 4-1/2 lbs. She was probably born in 2004. She is easily picked up, a little worried, but friendly and plucky.
