Bunnies In Search of Humans to Love
If you would like to adopt, be sure to read the adoption requirements and application section here.

People often adopt rabbits from other shelters instead of us, saying our rabbits are already being given very good care, and those in other shelters are in greater need. Please remember we do have some very needy rabbits, and every rabbit adopted from us enables us to take in the neediest rabbit from another shelter.

Hoping to adopt? Keep in mind as you look through our rabbits, single rabbits are available only to people looking for a friend for their own single rabbit. We can not pair singles on request for people who have no rabbits already, since the results are unpredictable. For those with no rabbits or an existing pair and wanting another, we always have already proven-compatible pairs available.

Elmo

Five pounds of stray cuteness has found it's way to Broomfield. Elmo is his new name, though he was undoubtedly called something else by the people who were careless enough to let him get away.

Born in 2007, this little guy is at just the right age to fit into a home where he can demonstrate his good manners and both give and get the affection so typical of bunnies in nice families. We all look forward to him finding his way back home, the RIGHT home this time.

Tiffany Tiffany

Oh, dear heaven, what a sorry sight this poor rabbit was when she got here! Her severe dental problems had her chin, face, cheeks all messed up - it was hard to even look at her. In fact, there wasn't much about this little one to give anyone hope that she would ever look okay. She had bad mats in her coat and her skin was in very poor condition.

What she does (and did even then) have going for her is her incredible love of people and her desire for attention! If you notice a pretty little red rex rabbit begging for attention, just look at the name tag on her crate. Yep, it's Tiffany!

She has had medical treatment and, of course, the grooming she so needed and is now ready to meet some guys! Only thing is, "be sure you bring some people with you, 'cause I really, really like people".

Jamie

This stray from Brush, Colorado brought with him perhaps the largest bunny ears in history! He is Jamie. At 3-1/2 months he was already up to 5 lbs and is probably a Flemish Giant. Wonder how much of that weight is those ears?

Being an early 2009 rabbit, it's likely he was acquired by somebody as and "Easter Bunny" and then later turned out when the family decided they didn't want to take care of a rabbit.

In Jamie's case, he was lucky to be found by a person before a coyote, so here he is with his incredible charm. He is eager to get on with the life he thought he was going to have before. And this time "make it stick, keep me through thick and thin and I will promise to lend an ear or two for a scratch anytime you like."

Mallory Mallory

Mallory arrived here after a stay at Table Mountain Animal Center. She is a very pretty rex, with the wonderful soft coat so like velvet. She was born in 2004 and weighs just 6 lbs.

This smart little girl has lots and lots to offer the lucky family who pairs her with their male and all of them can live a very soft life together.

Maureen

An adorable lion head rabbit, 6-1/2 lb Maureen has quite the ruff surrounding her head and spilling over her face - in fact she even seems to enjoy a little peek-a-boo at times.

Maureen was in a shelter in Dodge City Kansas where she seemed to need to be a bit cage aggressive. Who knows what about her environment caused her to feel that was needed. Here she hasn't once demonstrated any inclination. And in fact, she is a very sweet rabbit who has become one of the favorites of our volunteers. Born in 2005, Maureen is ready to move into a home with a boy bunny to cuddle her when their people are busy and play with her after their naps.

Maureen

Fergus Fergus

Another stray, Fergus is happy to find himself in a place with all these other rabbits. "I know I'm safe here and that the nice people will take very good care of me until I can find a home. I don't remember how I lost the last one, but I NEVER want THAT to happen again!"

Fergus is just a tiny boy, at 3-1/2 lbs, and our best guess is that he was born in 2004. So he is happy to have you know he's healthy and hearty and good to go.

Amanda

Amanda came to us by way of Denver Municipal Shelter. She is a very lovely rabbit born in 2007. She has heard that some of the rabbits her size have a harder time finding a home than the smaller ones, but she is hoping someone will realize that her trifling 8-3/4 lbs is smaller than a cat, smaller that almost all dogs and just large enough to fill your heart with happiness!

Amanda

Michelle Michelle

Michelle was out strolling in the park one day, right? Oh, probably not. She WAS in the park, but she was a frightened and lost little girl. She was a stray.

Through the efforts of a thoughtful human, she has come here to rest up and get herself settled into a new home. She was likely born in 2008, since she is all grown up, yet quite young. She weighs 6-1/2 lbs and is looking forward to meeting a handsome young bunny boy with whom she can cuddle and play and just generally hang out, but "inside please, where I am safe. I've been 'out' and I didn't like it!"

Kathy

Kathy is the Poster Girl for what can go wrong for rabbits who are unfortunate enough to be exploited by breeders. She was badly treated by her breeder; bred 3 times in a year despite her own very young age. So eventually, she wasn't doing very well. In fact, she seemed not to be friendly - no doubt a direct result of the misuse to which she had been subjected. But what was going to be her reward for giving so much (albeit not by her own choice)? She was going to be sold as snake food!

As luck would have it, a woman with a kind heart and a sense of justice found out about Kathy's predicament. After a long night of worry, crying, and planning, she took all the steps necessary to get this REALLY young (DOB 2008), REALLY little (2-3/4 lbs), bunny out of the nightmarish situation she was in (and facing worse)! And then she got Kathy to us.

When she arrived, she was terrified of people. Nancy worked with her to show her she was safe and cared about, so now she is been able to overcome her natural shyness and give folks a chance to show her that she can trust them. This little one can become such a beloved bunny and is certainly young enough to leave her unfortunate past behind her and become the Bunny Princess she was born to be.

Kathy

Callie Callie

Callie was found as a baby and kept by the family for 5 years. Recently they decided they were going to travel, so Callie found herself taking a rather unhappy trip straight to another shelter. As so often happens, the time comes that rabbits in other shelters are going to be much better off if they are here with us. So she took another trip and here she is.

This sweet rabbit is looking for all those things needed to give her a happy life. She needs a loving adult to care for her. She needs a home with room for exercise and a special place for her to rest. And she needs a bunny friend to share the basics of "Life as a Bunn", i.e. snuggling, grooming, and playing.

Charmin

Although not housed together here at CO-HRS, Chandra and Charmin were found together as strays near an apartment complex. We suspect that Chandra is her mom, but can’t be certain.

Charmin is soft, soft, soft! Born in early 2009, Charmin is pure, fluffy white with dark eyes. And, as you can see, the BIGGEST ears ever!. She is as friendly and sociable as she is soft. What an adorable little thing - simply bound to be Charmin the socks off her new family.

Charmin broke her foreleg, which has healed nicely, so she's now ready for a forever home.

Charmin

Chandra Chandra

Although not housed together, Chandra and Charmin were found together as strays near an apartment complex. Chandra is a large (8-1/2 lbs), but not very old rabbit (DOB 2007) with multibrown coloring. She is beautiful!!.

When she first arrived, she was a bit mad at the world, and who could blame her? Being homeless is so scary and dangerous! Wouldn't you think her first family would have taken better care of her? We've been working with us and she's decided she is glad she’s here, and is becoming friendly with us. She's getting all ready for a new home with people who keep her safe .
