Dare to Care for a Hare Poetry Contest

Enter the Dare to Care for a Hare poetry contest. The contest will be judged by poet C J Sage, editor of And We the Creatures: Fifty-One Contemporary American Poets on Animal Rights and Appreciation, and author of Let’s Not Sleep, and J P Dancing Bear, author of Billy Last Crow. All profits will go to support the House Rabbit Society.

PRIZES:

  • First Place - $250 and publication on an "artistic broadside" (a nice quality small letter press poster) as well as four copies of the winning broadside
  • Second Place - two copies of the winning broadside
  • Third Place - two copies of the winning broadside

All winners will be published in the HRS newsletter and on the HRS website. The winners will also be able to choose which HRS chapters receive the contest proceeds.

CONTEST SPECIFICS:

  • Poems must relate somehow to rabbits.
  • Poems must be 30 lines or under.
  • Poems must not contain the poet's name.
  • The entry fee is $5 per poem or three poems for $12. Make checks payable to "Speed Bump Press."
  • There is no limit to the number of entries an individual poet may submit.
  • Submit the poem on one sheet of paper and the poet's name and contact information on a separate sheet of paper.
  • Entries should include a self-addressed, stamped envelope (SASE).
