Dear Auntie Bea

Dear Auntie Bea,
My female rabbit can’t resist "re-arranging" the contents of the litter box. I am constantly sweeping up the mess. I have given her pieces of cardboard to dig and while she does enjoy this activity, she still prefers the litter box. Is there anything that I can do to remedy this?
--Tired of Sweeping

Dear Tired,
I feel your pain. I too, have a bunny who is a frustrated interior decorator! There are a couple of things to do. First, you can make a digging box for your bunny. Purchase a large, covered kitty litter box. Fill it with newspaper and let her dig in that. Also, put a grate in the litter box so that the droppings fall through but she cannot get to the litter. You can use cookie cooling racks or purchase wire mesh from the hardware store and cut it to fit inside the litter box.

Dear Auntie Bea,
I've noticed recently that my rabbit has wet fur under her chin. Is she just putting too much face in the water dish?
--Waterbunny

Dear Waterbunny,
You should take your bunny to a good rabbit veterinarian and have her molars checked as soon as possible. Sometimes when a rabbit develops a molar problem or molar spur, they will start to drool. This problem is especially serious if there is an odor in that area. It could signify an infection. To have a positive outcome, these infections must be treated immediately and aggressively.
