2004 Spring Fling Raises Almost $3,600 in Funds

Our annual Spring Fling was held on June 19th. A wet and stormy week prior to the event caused the planners some worries, but the rain gods were kind and kept the showers at bay. The result was a cool, cloudy but rainless day.

Picnic AreaMany bunnies romped in the field while others nibbled grass in the shade. Members gathered to share bunny stories and showoff their furry kids. Dr. Jerry LaBonde wass on hand to answer medical questions and judge the bunny contests. Volunteers staffed the Bunny Nail Trim/Tune-up/Massage booths. A human masseuse was also available. As a result, many participants, both two and four legged, enjoyed "a day at the spa."

Dave Welch and Lynn Halpern served a superb lunch for all the human attendees. Heather Monagle, a girl scout, decorated clay pots containing delicious herbs and earned about $112 in donations for the bunnies. There was even some spirited bidding at the Silent Auction tables with all proceeds benefiting the foster rabbits.

Thank you for supporting the Colorado HRS. The Spring Fling brought in almost $3,600 to help care for our foster rabbits and continue our member services. These events provide important income to allow us to continue operating the shelter. We would like to sincerely thank all the volunteers who helped and all who attended for making this an enjoyable gathering.
