Additions

Since our last newsletter, 54 bunnies have arrived at the shelter. (Note: For pictures of these bunnies and others who are looking for a home, visit the Colorado HRS web site.)

ThistleThistle - Thistle lives up to her name, being a bit sharp at times. She's very lively and independent, but also friendly, as long as it's on her terms. She weighs just under 5 1/2 lbs and was born in 2001.

Trinity - Trinity is such a sweek rabbit! She weighs 3 1/4 lbs. This pumpkin-and-white Dutch rabbit is everyone's dream of what a rabbit should be. Gentle, friendly, entertaining. Trinity was born May 2003.

Finian - A young, black bunny, Finian was born in late 2003, and weighs 4 1/2 lbs. He's a little shy, but a good mate will help him relax. He's a very nice rabbit!

BoiseBoise - What a character this caramel and white rabbit is! Wonderfully friendly, full of adventure, and just sheer fun! Boise was born in 2003, and weighs a little over 6 1/2 lbs.

Missy - This beautiful pure white rabbit is striking in any setting. Cautiously friendly, Missy likes people. Like all rabbits, she's curious about the world and explores contentedly. Born around 2001, she weighs almost 5 1/2 lbs.

Mr. Bunns - “Cage territorial!” his person said. “Cage territorial!” the shelter to which he was relinquished, agreed. So Mr. Bunns came to us, where so far he has run to the door of his crate to get petted. Even if he does become cage territorial—so what? That doesn’t mean he isn’t a very friendly rabbit who will make a delightful companion. Born in early 2003, he’s just over 4 lbs.

MarthaMartha - Martha, a big white rabbit, is probably a New Zealand White mix. She's still shy, but she tries to be trusting and asks for face scratches. She gets worried though if a hand goes beyond her face. She (and we) are working on it. Over 8 1/2 lbs, we think she was born in 2003.

Taz - Taz is a big, beautiful, dark brown rex rabbit. (Oh that incredible, velvet fur!) He's polite with people, and enjoys being petted. He's also been eyeing Nelly in the crate next door. Born around 2000 (we think), he weighs just over 8 lbs.

Piccolo - This little bright-eyed boy-bunn is shy, but very cute. He longs for a girlfriend and a family to help him become more confident. Possibly born in 2002, he weighs just over 3 lbs.Olivia

Olivia - Probably born in 2000 or earlier, Olivia is a funny little mini-lop weighing in at just under 6 lbs. Friendly and cute, Olivia will be a great addition to someone's family.

Walter - This mixed-breed, 2 1/2 lb bunny was probably born in 2003. Incredibly, it looks like someone actually tried to bleach him! Once he has molted, and grown new fur, we expect him to be dark brown. Walter is friendly and adventurous. He hopes you will consider him as a potential hus-bunn for your little girl-bunn.

Patience - Patience is really quite beautiful. She was born in late 2003 or early 2004. She is a most unique mix, with big ears that everyone says are stunning. She weighs only 4 1/4 lbs, but we expect her to reach about 6 lbs. She’s gentle with people and enjoys their attention. Please consider her if you have a boy-bunn looking for a friend. She promises to be the bestest bunny she can be if you make her a member of your family.

TylerTyler - Tyler is a mixed breed rabbit with a wonderfully gentle and friendly personality. Born in 2003, he weighs just over 6 lbs. As you can see, he is trying to phone home (his future forever home) to alert his family-to-be that he is ready for them to come for him.

Nico - Nico lived with a construction worker and slept in bed with him! Sadly, his job required a move to New Mexico where he will be living out of his truck. That is no place for a bunny to call home, especially in the heat! Born in late 2003, Nico is a very friendly black and white rabbit, just under 4 1/2 lbs, who is willing to give up sleeping in bed with a person if she has a hus-bunn with whom to snuggle the hours away.

Eartha - This little (just over 3 1/4 lbs) black girl-bunny was a stray, saved from becoming a predator’s meal by a kind woman. The woman’s own rabbit deeply disliked Eartha. Solid black, she was probably born in late 2003. She is a happy, friendly little bunn who will be glad to entertain the possibility of marrying your boy-bunn.

MadisonMadison - My "what long ears you have" Madison is an adorable lop mix, born in early 2003. She is a sweet little girl who will soon be looking for a hus-bunn and forever home.

Janice - This dark grey and white mini-lop is full of spirit and eager for people to stop by her crate. Born in 2001 and weighing 6 3/4 lbs, Janice will be a lively addition to some lucky family.

Topper - This gentle, loving boy appears to be a dutch-rex mix. Dark grey with a little white, he was born around 2001 and weighs just under 7 lbs.

Griz & AnnabelleGriz - Griz and Annabelle are each about 3 lbs big. Annabelle was here when Griz, a speckled bunny, came to us and soon the two were tail over teakettle in love. Small, cute and friendly—how can you resist them?

Melody – This adorable little white Netherland Dwarf weighs less than 3 1/2 lbs. Born in 2002, she is a lovely little lady, looking for an equally small hus-bunn. Melody is exceptionally friendly with people. Nemo

Nemo - Nemo is the typical dutch rabbit: friendly, gentle, fun-loving, curious, and entertaining. He's the crème de la crème of rabbits. Born in 2003, he's barely over 4 lbs. He is now bonded with his beloved Jenna.

Pickles - Oh, poor bunny! At some time in her past, Pickles had a badly broken leg at that healed without medical assistance. An abscess began growing in the area of the break and quickly became enormous. Surgery was preformed, and it was found that her back leg would probably never be useful to her. But having a great spirit, this white and black bunny isn’t letting it slow her down. Probably born in 2003, Pickles will weigh close to 5 lbs when she is fully healthy again.

BitseyBitsey - This "pure white little bit of bunny" weighs in at just over 2 1/2 lbs. Probably born in 2003, she is adorable as only the little ones are. Sadly, an ex-husband bought her for a child whose mother could not keep rabbits in her apartment.

Lola - Just 3 1/4 lbs, Lola was a stray lucky enough and friendly enough to be found before she was a predator’s lunch. She was probably born in 2003.

Haley - This little girl, barely over 3 lbs, was abandoned by her people when they moved. Black and tan, she appears to be a polish, with the self-confidence and liveliness of that breed.

Rascal & CelesteRascal and Celeste - These are two mighty cute, and mighty little Netherland Dwarf rabbits. Rascal, the white one with grey points, and Celeste, the black one with tan on her underside, are a delightful pair, each weighing only 2 1/2 lbs. They dearly want a forever home. Born in 2002, they are the perfect age for adopting--young, but mature and past the behavior problems associated with baby bunnies.

Socks - This adorable 7-year-old mini-rex has been a house-rabbit all his life. He loves people and dogs. He desperately wants to get married again. If you have a smallish, older female, Socks may be the perfect mate for her.

Woodrow and Sadie -

Woody & SadieWoodrow (AKA Woody--on the left) demonstrates his "What, me worry?" pose. Woody came to us via Max Fund, a shelter specializing in injured animals, but one who does not take rabbits. Both of his back legs were broken, one of them in two places, as though something had dropped on his legs when they were extended behind him. Born in late 2002, and not even 4 lbs, this little guy has enormous spirit. His legs were surgically pinned and he is able to hop on one of them. The bone in the other one ended up bending until the leg was pointing outward. It doesn't stop Woody, though! He can race around as fast as anybunn!

Sadie is Woody's beloved. She's a black and white mini-lop about the same age, weighing almost 6 lbs. She's also a delightfully friendly rabbit. This pair will make some family very happy.

Braveheart, Padre, and Joey -

Braveheart, Padre, & JoeyBraveheart is white with grey spots. He earned his name because, when he arrived here, he boldly left the carrier to explore his new surroundings. Born this February, he currently weighs 3 1/4 lbs.

Padre is grey with a white collar. Born this March, he is currently just over 2 1/4 lbs. As a youngster, Padre, too, is lively and eager to explore.

Joey, born this March, is grey with white paws. He currently weighs a bit under 3 1/2 lbs. Naturally, at his age, he is very lively and into everything he can get his teeth and paws on.

Lilac, Sheila, and Heather -

Lilac, Sheila, & HeatherLilac is light grey with tan, and has a white tummy. Born this March, and weighing 2-1/2 lbs at six months, she is lively and friendly.

Sheila is an adorable little golden tan bunny. Like Lilac, Sheila was also born this March. Rescued from being a stray, this little 3 lb (at 4 months) bunny is highly active, and very sweet.

Heather is light grey with some tan, and a white tummy. She is also a young rabbit, born this March. She has a bossy attitude toward her enclosure companions, but she’s a sweetie with people. At 4 months, she weighs 2 1/2 lbs.
