The State of the State's Rabbits

News from the North
Over the summer, our satellite has been involved with many adoptions. We have tried to be the main source of information for all new rabbit adopters at the Larimer Humane Society. We are helping people pair bunnies and giving them useful educational information before they take their new bunny home. We always follow up with a phone call to adopters even if we did not have contact with them during the adoption process.

In September, Nancy and Bea came to visit our satellite. We met at the Larimer Humane Society and four volunteers from the Humane Society also attended the meeting. Nancy and Bea had some excellent ideas for bunny enrichment and offered some suggestions to better care for the shelter rabbits. We learned how fortunate we are in that the Larimer Humane Society does not have to euthanize as many rabbits as some of the Denver area shelters do.

We will be implementing some new ideas for our bunny tune-ups or basic bunny care seminars to educate new adopters. The details have yet to be worked out. Fortunately we have the volunteer base to help and follow through with these new developments as well with fostering, phone calls, and shelter visits.
