Additions

Since our last newsletter, 70 bunnies have arrived at the shelter. Fortunately, 26 of them have already been adopted. (Note: For pictures of these bunnies and others who are looking for a home, visit the Colorado HRS web site.)

Rosewood. This beautiful red and black “tweed” mini-rex came to us from the Longmont shelter. Born in late 2002, and weighing just over five pounds, Rosewood is feisty about people entering her home, but simply delightful to hold.

Glenmere. Having been a stray in Greeley where he dodged foxes and other predators in a woodsy area, Glenmere is a not quite six pound, beautiful agouti and white mix. Probably born in 2000, Glenmere is a sweet, gentlebunn longing for a companion and a home.

SabrinaSabrina. She is a shy little black rabbit, weighing under four pounds. Born toward the end of 2002, or early in 2003, Sabrina will blossom when she find a hus-bunn to give her more confidence.

Snoopy (Now bonded with Henrietta). This little Holland/mini-lop mix is fearless and has to be protected from himself. Stand close to their cage with the door open, and he'll try to jump onto your shoulder. Let him run in a laundry room, and he jumps onto the washing machine and spills the detergent. In other words, when Snoopy is out, WATCH OUT!! Born in late 2002, Snoopy weighs only four pounds, but is growing.

Bradley. This big (over nine pounds) gold and black “tweed” rabbit was a stray in Pueblo. He is very friendly with people. If your girl bunn is looking for “tall, dark, and handsome,” and you want good personality to go with it, Bradley is the bunny for you. He was probably born in 2002.

Gabrielle. This beautiful agouti was left with neighbors during a move and never picked up. Born around 2000 this sweetheart weighing in at about eight pounds is one big armful of love!

Blossom. This five and one half pound classic white rabbit came to us from the Aurora shelter. Probably born in 2002 she is a real sweetheart who enjoys people. Prospective suitors are invited to post their qualifications.

Charm. This almost four pound polish dwarf mix is definitely a charmer! Gentle and easy-going, she is happy to be picked up and held. We refer to her multi-pale brown colors as “café au lait.” Probably born in 2002, Charm needs only a Prince Charming with a home to make her life complete.

Charm's 2nd LitterDixie, Dulcie, Dodie, Della, Daphne, Donna and Duncan. These seven adorable babies are Charm’s second litter. They were born around July 29, 2003. All have variations of her coloring and all are expected to be about her size.

Jackie and Pipkin. Born in 2002 and 2001 these big bunns (nine and one half pounds and eight pounds) are a great big wonderful armful of furry love. Jackie is an agouti mix and Pipkin a beautiful soft white and brown rex. If you like an armful when you hold your rabbits this pair is for you.

Flitta (Now bonded to Jupiter). This sweet white, grey, and brown mini-lop is friendly and has a great personality. She was born in 1999.

Boots. This mini rex female, probably born in 1999, weighs just under six pounds. Rust, with white “boots,” this rabbit is very friendly. She loves people, and hopes that her royalty will not stand in the way of a good male bunn seeking her paw in marriage. This is one of those truly special bunnies!

Penny. This little Holland lop was found as a stray. She had a bandage around a back leg that was too tight and cut off the circulation. As a result she lost the two middle toes of that foot but it has healed beautifully. Dark gold and charcoal in color this delightful bunny weighs only three pounds. Typical of the Holland lop she is a lively friendly rabbit. She was probably born in 2000.

Abby, Audrey and Amy. These three represent Charm’s first litter. Café au lait and grey in color they were probably born in May of 2003. They aren’t likely to get any larger than Charm who weighs just under four pounds.

Venus. Found by a reservoir, this pure white mix breed rabbit weighs less than four pounds. She’s a pretty little thing, eager to find a hus-bunn and home, where she’ll grace it with her beauty and personality. She was probably born in 2001.

Diana. Found with Venus by a reservoir, this pure black, mix breed rabbit weighs less than three pounds. She and Venus stuck together until they were safe with us, and then parted ways, each hoping to find a hus-bunn and home. Diana, too, is beautiful, and has a good personality. Also, probably born in 2001.

FlowerFlower. This black rabbit weighing just under five pounds came to us from the Max Fund which doesn’t work with rabbits. She’s a beautiful black rabbit probably born in 1999. She is very sweet and gentle.

Georgia. This big, sweet mini-lop (just under seven pounds) was declared “aggressive” by another shelter. Fortunately, they listened to our pleas on her behalf and let us take her rather than putting her down. Georgia not only is NOT aggressive, she cuddles in your arms and tooth purrs readily. Like so many rabbits, her fear at the shelter was misunderstood as aggression. This sweet white and grey rabbit was probably born in 1999.

Nelly. This big white rabbit, probably born in 2002, and weighing 9-1/2 lbs. is a mix. Declared aggressive by another shelter, because of her nervousness, this beautiful rabbit is rapidly learning to trust people.

Penelope. Coming to us from the Longmont shelter, this big Holland, or small mini-lop (four and one half pounds) was given up because her people couldn’t afford her. She is a lovely brown and tan in color and was born in March 2001. She has a delightful little personality.

Alaia. Probably born in 2002 and weighing five and one half pounds this beautiful girl is a classic pure white rabbit. She has a very sweet personality.

Paige. This little grey dwarf was found left in a cage otside the Longmont shelter. She’s a gentle happy little soul who will make some boy bunn and his family very happy.

Quigley. This black mini-lop is a character! He loves to tease people who approach his cage, sometimes submitting to being loved, sometimes trying to nibble a finger, sometimes racing away and back again—anything to keep a person off balance.

Owen Earl and Gazelle. Owen Earl is a big (seven and one half pound) white rabbit who was a stray found in Buena Vista. Probably born in 1999 Owen Earl dotes on his beloved Gazelle a beautiful white and dark orange rex just half a pound smaller than he is. She was probably born a year after Owen Earl. This is a big sweet pair. Someone will be very lucky to discover them and take them home.

BonnieBonnie. Born in 1998, Bonnie is a tri-color mini-rex who also came to us from the Longmont shelter. Beautiful, friendly, and lively, this is a bunny “to die for.”

Sally, Stella, Stanley, Skipper, Spencer. What can you say about three month old white and grey mini-lop babies, other than “Awwww…” Cute as a bug’s ear (although I’ve yet to see a bug’s ear), these little ones think people are pretty neat creatures.

Jeremy and Joy. These two light tan mini-rexes were going to be killed by a breeder because they “weren’t producing good litters.” A vet convinced the breeder to let them find a home, and so they came to us. These rabbits are simply beautiful, with gentle personalities.

Sanchi. A grey bunny found with head-tilt, and starving at only one pound and ten ounces, this delightful little bunn quickly gained weight. She now weighs almost four pounds. Sanchi has been left with a permanent head-tilt, and torn ear, but she is simply delightful, running to greet people, begging to be held, and loving to be cuddled. Her head tilt doesn’t seem to bother her in the least. She is eager to find people who will be as affectionate as she is. They must, of course, come equipped with a suitable hus-bunn for her. She was probably born in late 2002.

Baby. This poor little baby bunny had been attacked by a dog. In spite of our best efforts she died from her injuries.
